That Pink Lotion has Come a Long Way
If you're around my age, you probably remember a bottle of pink lotion on your mother or grandmother's dressing table. It may have had a black label. This pink lotion had a distinctive smell that you might, to this day, associate with your female parent. Most likely it was Oil of Olay, a beauty product with a rich and interesting history. In the 1950s, most face moisturizers were greasy and packaged in unattractive tins. Chemist Graham Wulff, with the help of his wife, developed something very different.
From his research Wulff concluded that women wanted a product to make them look younger and more vibrant, which is apparently an eternal desire shared by women generations later. He decided the ingredients should be light and absorb well into the skin. His goal was to create a product that gave and held moisture but finished off matte. The chemist and his wife chose everything from the pale pink color to the iconic fragrance of the product. Before long, the pink fluid was a bottle found on many women's makeup tables.
They still make something akin to the traditional pink fluid, however the company is now called Olay and offers a wide range of skin care products. Its Regenerist line has won multiple awards and was shown to hydrate better than creams costing hundreds of dollars. Olay also offers the Definity line and many other products. If you are a pink lotion fan, you'll find not only Olay brand but also generic pink beauty fluid and other brands. It's all basically modeled after the original Oil of Olay.
There is just something about the pretty packaging, the alluring scent, the silky feel of that pink lotion that is hard to resist. As you smooth it on, you feel the same soothing care that women have felt for decades. Even if you are in your twenties, it is never too early to start using a product like this light lotion. However, it is also never too late, so if you haven't yet started with skincare this lotion is a great first product. Use it after cleansing in the morning and night for optimum results. If you like the results you get, consider trying different products from the same brand, like an eye cream or night cream.
